Date Night! {Rachel}

Last night was the Young Women General Broadcast. My stake was lucky and we got tickets to go to the Conference Center and see the meeting live, so my mom and I went on a little date! I have been to the Conference Center before, but not to a meeting. Last summer we took a trip to Salt Lake with the Baxters and we got a tour around the building (including the roof top garden... it was sweet!) it was cool to see how huge this building really was!

My mom and I first made a stop and Kneaders (The cheese cake was delish!) in Spanish then we hit the road to the big city. When we got there we had some time to spare, so we browsed around Nordstroms, and adored all of the expensive dresses!  :)

After we shopped around we crossed the street to the Conference Center. They even had flags outside of Temple Square that where the value colors! We where in our seats 30 minutes early so we got a pretty good spot! I'm glad that I got the chance to go and see the meeting in real life. It was different than just watching it on TV!.Turns out my cousin, Zoe, was in the choir! It was fun to see her up on the bug screen, she did amazing!
The whole building is so so beautiful! I'm goad I got to go!
Following the meeting we met up with my aunt and my cousins. The Cheese Cake Factory had a line out the door, so we settled for Johnny Rockets. While we where waiting for our shakes Zoe and I went to H&M and found some adorable glasses! I was sad when we walked back (with our moms who had the $$) and they where closed, or else these baby's would have been mine!

Zoe and I rocking our hip glasses!
Thanks Mom, aunt Connie, Taylor, and Zoe for the fun night!
Love,
Rachel

Rusty Run {Rachel}

In February one of my dads colleagues had a bad heart attack and stroke. All of his students have been looking for a way to raise some money for him and his family. They came up with the idea of a 5k fun run, and ended up raising $5,000. Most of the route was inside the halls of UVU, but a little bit was outside in the beautiful weather too. It was really cool to see all of these kids helping out in any way they could. Weather it be running the race, or cooking pancakes they all made an effort to support Nick and his family.

My dad took us kids to it to "help" but they had it pretty under control. However, I did flip some pancakes! When we got there Reed wasn't going to run it, but then one of the UVU baseball players said he would run it with Reed and one of my dad's other colleagues' boy. After the baseball player agreed to run it with him, Reed was all over it! (Although he only ran the first mile or so... but better than I could have done!) It was pretty funny to see Reed a head of the WHOLE pack of runners! (Even the ball player!)

We all had a good time, and I'm glad we could help out Nick and his family.

Love,
     Rachel
(PS the start of spring beak hasn't been that boring at all!)

Lonely Me {Rachel}

This week is Spring Break, and I'm afraid I have nothing cool to say about that. I'm not going anywhere or doing anything. But... it is Reed's first baseball game(s) this week! I guess that is one thing to be exited for, but other than that I am pretty boring. All of my friends are going somewhere:
Jessica: Oregon to party with the Baxter fam and have an Easter party.
Emily: Going to Disneyland to use up their year-long passes (with Jolene's family)
Jolene: Going to Disneyland to use up their year-long passes
Kyrra: Going to Arizona to see family
Rachel: . . . . . .
I will do my best to have a good time without my besties, and I hope they have a good time!

Yesterday in English we had to write a "figurative language story" about anything. It just so happend that I had this subject on my mind, therfore that is what I wrote about. Look below to read all about it. My mom thought it was pretty funny, and I won the prize in English for having the best story!

(My Dream) Spring Break 2013
    For spring break this year we are going to Arizona. I bet it will be as hot as our oven, and lots of fun! I hope we get a lot of time to watch baseball games, go shopping, and swim. My siblings and I can’t stop counting the hours until Friday after school when we will head out of town. We have been packing for days now, and I am dying inside! I can’t wait!
    Last night I had a dream, I saw a picture of the States, then Arizona started to get bigger and bigger. Eventually the US faded away and all I could see was Arizona. It started to talk to me. It said “Rachel, be patient in only a few hours you will be here,” turns out my brother had the same dream! Even my 7 year old sister came home from school yesterday and showed me a paper. It said “Soon I will be swimming, swinging, and singing in the sun!”. She hit the nail right on the head!
    Before us kids knew about this trip, our parents booked a stay at a hotel with a sauna, swimming pool, hot tub, and breakfast every morning! Most days we will be at pro baseball games, but on other days we will be touring national parks with fiery red rock, and eating lunch in small cafe’s. Just if 2 days could pass by as if it were only hours!
    Turns out we weren't even supposed to know about this trip until Friday. My parents accidentally made the mistake of texting each other about the trip, and when my mom handed me her phone to text, while she was driving, I just scrolled through the messages. Opps, that was when I saw the messages from my dad. She thinks it was my fault, but really she let the cat out of the bag.
    If only I could say that this trip were really happening. All of my dreaming is coming to an end; as I print this story and walk out of the computer lab with nothing planned over spring break.

 Can you find all of the figurative language that I used?

Love,

Sounds Like Us! {Rachel}

First of all, I wanted to share this picture I found yesterday. I thought it looked like something Jessica and I would do!  :)

Second, I want to say THANK YOU to my best friend. I'm glad she is there to support me when I need it, let me dream a little, take me back to reality when necessary, and do crazy things like ringing people's doorbells and standing there like gnomes until we laugh to hard we have to run to the next house. I'm way glad to have a best friend like you Jessica! Love you lots girly!
Love,
  Rachel

Music Madness {Rachel}

Last Sunday my siblings and I got a little bored. We decided we would make a music video. Because it was Sunday, and we have a rule at our house that we can only listen to church music, we where stuck with our last resort... Popcorn Popping. Ok, we did our best with what we had. I thought it was pretty funny how Kate is totally serious, and Reed is over there acting like a weirdo!

I hoped you like our little show!
Love,

And a while later.... {Jessica}

We had one of these done!! I went with Rachel's family to their Grandma and Grandpa's house. When we discovered that Grandma Slack had a Gel Nail machine, we freaked. We LOVE gel nails. They stay on for a long time and they are super shiny!! So after about 30 minutes on each girl, here is the finished product:

They were way fun! Hope to do it again soon!!

The Fireside {Rachel}

It has been 2 weeks since this event, but I still thought I would share. My dance studio does "the Fireside" every year. It is a performance that mostly includes hymns, and inspirational songs. It is my very favorite of all of our performances {the Nutcracker comes in a tight 2nd place}. It is just such a different feeling knowing that all the dancers are dancing for the same reasons as you. A ton of my family was able to attend this recital, Kate and I where super exited because usually we don't have this big of a crowd! {We also got a load of flowers which is a new thing too!} Thanks to them and everyone else who came and watched the show!

{These are some of my cute cousins and I! Love your girls lots!}

Hoarding: Buried Alive {Jessica}

Jill happens to be a normal 5 years old that lives in the basement, goes to preschool, dances and sings, and is addicted to candy. It happens. A while ago, my family started to notice things were missing. We had no idea were they were, and WE certainly were not misplacing them! One day, my mom walked down stairs and Jill followed. She walked back behind the couch and into the storage room. Jill stood guarded at the door that leads to under the stairs. When my mom came back Jill got defensive. We can't even look into her "stashes" without getting yelled at. My mom looked and she had hid boxes and containers and bags full of C-R-A-P.
We decided we had a hoarder on our hands.

A while back, when it was really bad, my mom went down and looked through it while Jill was asleep. She found random things like: My blow drier, her RS keys, Julie's books and lip glosses, etc.

The next morning while making breakfast, Jill stormed into the kitchen with her hands on her hips and asked demanded, where her blow drier was. "You can't have that, it's Jessica's." She replied with tears in her eyes, "Fine. I'll just ask Santa for one." She turned around and mumbled just loud enough for my mom to hear, "Santa, please bring me a blow drier." (Sometimes I think she was adopted or something.)

Anyways, it was finally time to go through this pile and my mom did it without Jill. Can you imagine what she thought about her recent storage place (behind the couch) and to later discover it was GONE? It was scary. People may have considered getting help because, "What if she has mental problems?" Ya, we thought about  that too. Guess she just needs to have something to call her own.

Love, a kinda bothered, Jessica

Pure Joy {Rachel}

First of all... spring is finally here! The sun is not only shining, but it is warm! My mom and I where just on our way to get a soda then enjoy lunch in the backyard.... oh spring is great!

Second, the other day I was having a little too much fun on the iPad. Kate and I where taking pictures, then adding stickers so the faces had mustaches, glasses, hats etc. We sure laughed hard so, I just thought I would share them:

Happy Birthday Darling! {Jessica}

Today is Rachel's birthday! She turned 13, same as me! Yesterday I went with her and her family down to their Grandma's house and to the Miss. Fairview pageant. I spent time with her all day and we had some pretty good laughs. We did our nails, ate really good food, watched girls walk around in their pretty dresses and texted pointless things to random people. Typical teenager things ya know. :)

The point is, she is always there for me. Ready to make me laugh, or listen to me vent, or to give me advice. She is an amazing person and always will be! She is so super talented, smart, gorgeous and kind. She always makes the right decisions and is always up for a challenge!!

Rachel, you are the bestest friend a girl could ask for. No way I could do everything I do without you here! You truly the greatest and I hope you have a wonderful day. I love your face girl! :)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

Love ya!! Love, Jessica

Froggy Lou {Rachel}

My Week Long Love:
On Valentines day (the day of love)
My parents gave us kids a dove.
No, no, not a dove but 3 fish and a frog.
the fish where as gold as gold, and the frog as brown as a log.
We also got a little fishbowl.
and filled it with rocks and water clear full.
Next we spooned the fish right in
And hoped they would use each fin.
We watched and watched their tails wave ‘round
For only a week until they all drowned.

As you can tell thorough my lovely poetry we got 3 fish, and they died... then we got 3 more... died, but thankfully we still have our little frog Lou. In my English class (2 days after Valentines day) we where required to write a poem about anything, using any rhyme scheme, and at least 2 types of figurative language (Can you guess what they are in my poem?). All that was on my mind was the tragic (not at all... a little flush doesn't hurt the soul that bad.  :) death of our newest family members. I thought it was funny to make the hole thing into a poem, and I had a lot of fun with it!

This is a picture of the only survivor of the gold fish killing rampage:
Sorry, it is kinda hard to spot the little guy.
 Lesson learned here... just spend the 3 extra dollars on a nice fish that will stay alive for more than 36 hours. Just sayin' guys.
Love,
     Rachel
