A Memorable Memorial Day {Rachel}

Today to honor our troops we went to our 'Payson City Memorial Day Service' at the cemetery. It has become a tradition, because my dad served in the Army too, that we go pay our respects every Memorial Day. It was good and I think it is always super interesting to hear them tell old war stories.

After that we decided we where going to go on a little adventure of our own. We went to 'Camp Floyd State Park'  it is an old army base. Way back when they thought that the Mormons where getting so large in number and that they where going to take over, so they sent out 1/3 of the US army to Camp Floyd to make sure the Mormons stayed under control. Sooner or later they decided the Mormon people weren't really a threat and sent the men back to fight in the Civil War. But before they left the US soldiers had to burn everything so the Mormons didn't take/use it. There is only 1 building that remains of Camp Floyd today, it is an Inn/Stage Coach Stop/Pony Express Stop. It was pretty cool to see. And I always have liked learning a little more about US history.

At the camp today they where doing a 'Reenactment' of what it would have been like back then. So they had all of these little canvas tents set up that included a Doctors office, Barber Shop, a lady spinning yarn, a cannon show, a guy who did 'Medicine Shows', an example of what a stay at home mom did, and some other cool set up's. My favorite was the Doctor, he had a bunch of crazy tools! Plus he said when people got shot they would just cut the skin, pull it back, and 'amputate' the bone with a legit saw! (then of course sew it all back together) It was nuts! We also stopped at another tent and the lady was selling giant pickles! They where pretty dang good! ;)

What can I say? It was a memorable Memorial Day for me!

Here Comes Good-bye {Rachel}

  I literary CAN NOT believe that my 7th grade year is over. This has been by far the fastest school year I have ever experienced. This year has been so different, but all in good ways. The first day of school I was scared out of my guts! Jr. High has been a real eye opener.
  First I have met SO SO many new people. I can not even try to name all of them. Kate and I where going through my yearbook {I feel like an official 'big kid' now because I have a yearbook!} and I could name 2/3 of all the 7th grade kids. I may not be their closest friend  but we defiantly talk regularly, and associate with each other/ each other's friends.
  Second I have learned a ton! I have learned school stuff as well as 'how to get around in the big J High', and social skills. There is really a lot you can learn from just observing people! :) I have to give a round of applause {and thanks} to all of my 8th grader friends at dance. They have helped coach and train this little sevy a lot.
  Third I got the awesome opportunity to be on Payson Junior High's Yearbook Staff 2013-2014. {It looks so cool when I write it out all official like that!} I am really looking forward to getting to know more of our school, and helping out with school activities!
  Forth {this is a bad thing, not a good one} I have to say good bye to the best 6th grade teacher ever! She changed me for good during my 6th grade year. She gave me some style, knowledge, self confidence, and a great year! She is moving away and I know our hole Elementary School hates to see her go. We love you Mrs. Raz!
  Here we go, on to tomorrow--yearbook signing and a lot of good-byes.

6 words. (Jessica)

Four more days left of school.

That is all for now. Because next, is SUMMER.

I'm happy (ish) to be out this year. Last year, not so much. Anyway...
Ooh! Ahh!! RACHEL AND I MADE YEARBOOK STAFF!!! Oh, and we get big lockers next year!
7th grade has been great! Thanks to all my fabulous old friends and new ones I've made!! And I've learned so much! It's been pretty good. But, you have to cut us some slack. Rachel and I are so excited for summer. Can you blame us?

Love, Jessica

Oh! Ps...Rachel and I have to say goodbye to Mrs. Rasmussen (Our old 6th grade teacher) this year. She's leaving to San Fran. (As she would call it) Last year was amazing with her as our teacher and it's tough to say good bye! Mrs. Raz, I love you! You truly are the greatest and have helped us through so much. We appreciate all you have done for us. I will never, ever, ever forget you! You are so completely amazing! Rachel and I look up to you a lot! (Like, you have no idea!) Love ya! :)

Ok, now:
Love, Jessica

Those Days... {Rachel}

Do you know those days where you have nothing to do, but all the time in the world? Those days where you are thinking a mile a minute and you just need to talk to your best friend? How about when you are feeling super creative, but don't have a cute project to do? Yup, that is how Saturday was.

At 8:00 am we had a ward 5k, Jessica and I walked it. Then I came home and did well... nothing really! In fact I was so bored out of my mind I drew on the driveway with chalk! I asked Jessica to come over, but she was off doing something with her life (unlike me) so I was left alone. Until the party...

One of my friends had her birthday party on Saturday. We went up the canyon and roasted hot dogs, played Frisbee, and just hug out around the fire! I had a great time! We also got glow sticks... and some people started to break them and squirt them all over everything! I am pretty sure if I wore my sweatshirt at night I would make a new fashion trend. I could call it "the glowing monster"! :)

Rachel
