A DOG? {Rachel}
The past 5 days we have had a lucky visitor staying with us... a dog. My family isn't really "the dog type" they have never been a favorite.
On Friday my mom was out on a run and brought home a 1 year old Black Lab. She doesn't like dogs either but it followed her all the way home! It really was the sweetest thing ever. It stood right on her foot while she was watering the garden, he would wait on the deck for us to come out and play with him, and he could be walked without a leash!
At first we where just going to call the pound to come pick him up but our neighbor works at the Vet and told us that they 'put down' the dogs within 3 days if nobody comes to claim them. So we kept him for a while longer. We put flyers out on mail boxes, asked everybody we saw, but no luck. Finally I put him on KSL and a guy came to get him the next day. We all felt really good about the new owner, so hopefully it will all work out!

Fat Lip 'Joe' {Rachel}
About a week ago at one of Reed's baseball games he had a little accident. He was playing Center Field when the 2nd base man missed a line drive. Reed was there to back him up but the ball took a bad hop on the way. This was the result:
Lucky for him he had just gotten his new retainer 9 hours earlier. His teeth where already super sensitive, but the retainer did save his teeth from getting knocked out!
Let me just tell you that you would be surprised to see what 6 days could do for a fat lip like that!
He is one tough kid!

Skating in the Summer {Rachel}
Last night we went Ice Skating! I thought it was kinda weird that we where Skating in the Summer, when we probably should be Swimming... but it was good fun all the same! :) The Baxter's invited us, and because my dad is out of town we really had nothing else to do so my mom agreed to take us.
Jessica and I spend most of the time helping out little brothers find their feet. We had to laugh when Joseph fell down at least 3 times every time we went around the rink! Reed was a little more cautious though. By the end we where all Skating like pros.
Happy Summer!

A Memorable Memorial Day {Rachel}
Today to honor our troops we went to our 'Payson City Memorial Day Service' at the cemetery. It has become a tradition, because my dad served in the Army too, that we go pay our respects every Memorial Day. It was good and I think it is always super interesting to hear them tell old war stories.
After that we decided we where going to go on a little adventure of our own. We went to 'Camp Floyd State Park' it is an old army base. Way back when they thought that the Mormons where getting so large in number and that they where going to take over, so they sent out 1/3 of the US army to Camp Floyd to make sure the Mormons stayed under control. Sooner or later they decided the Mormon people weren't really a threat and sent the men back to fight in the Civil War. But before they left the US soldiers had to burn everything so the Mormons didn't take/use it. There is only 1 building that remains of Camp Floyd today, it is an Inn/Stage Coach Stop/Pony Express Stop. It was pretty cool to see. And I always have liked learning a little more about US history.
At the camp today they where doing a 'Reenactment' of what it would have been like back then. So they had all of these little canvas tents set up that included a Doctors office, Barber Shop, a lady spinning yarn, a cannon show, a guy who did 'Medicine Shows', an example of what a stay at home mom did, and some other cool set up's. My favorite was the Doctor, he had a bunch of crazy tools! Plus he said when people got shot they would just cut the skin, pull it back, and 'amputate' the bone with a legit saw! (then of course sew it all back together) It was nuts! We also stopped at another tent and the lady was selling giant pickles! They where pretty dang good! ;)
What can I say? It was a memorable Memorial Day for me!

Here Comes Good-bye {Rachel}
I literary CAN NOT believe that my 7th grade year is over. This has been by far the fastest school year I have ever experienced. This year has been so different, but all in good ways. The first day of school I was scared out of my guts! Jr. High has been a real eye opener.
First I have met SO SO many new people. I can not even try to name all of them. Kate and I where going through my yearbook {I feel like an official 'big kid' now because I have a yearbook!} and I could name 2/3 of all the 7th grade kids. I may not be their closest friend but we defiantly talk regularly, and associate with each other/ each other's friends.
Second I have learned a ton! I have learned school stuff as well as 'how to get around in the big J High', and social skills. There is really a lot you can learn from just observing people! :) I have to give a round of applause {and thanks} to all of my 8th grader friends at dance. They have helped coach and train this little sevy a lot.
Third I got the awesome opportunity to be on Payson Junior High's Yearbook Staff 2013-2014. {It looks so cool when I write it out all official like that!} I am really looking forward to getting to know more of our school, and helping out with school activities!
Forth {this is a bad thing, not a good one} I have to say good bye to the best 6th grade teacher ever! She changed me for good during my 6th grade year. She gave me some style, knowledge, self confidence, and a great year! She is moving away and I know our hole Elementary School hates to see her go. We love you Mrs. Raz!

6 words. (Jessica)
Four more days left of school.
That is all for now. Because next, is SUMMER.
I'm happy (ish) to be out this year. Last year, not so much. Anyway...
Ooh! Ahh!! RACHEL AND I MADE YEARBOOK STAFF!!! Oh, and we get big lockers next year!
7th grade has been great! Thanks to all my fabulous old friends and new ones I've made!! And I've learned so much! It's been pretty good. But, you have to cut us some slack. Rachel and I are so excited for summer. Can you blame us?
Love, Jessica
Oh! Ps...Rachel and I have to say goodbye to Mrs. Rasmussen (Our old 6th grade teacher) this year. She's leaving to San Fran. (As she would call it) Last year was amazing with her as our teacher and it's tough to say good bye! Mrs. Raz, I love you! You truly are the greatest and have helped us through so much. We appreciate all you have done for us. I will never, ever, ever forget you! You are so completely amazing! Rachel and I look up to you a lot! (Like, you have no idea!) Love ya! :)

Those Days... {Rachel}
Do you know those days where you have nothing to do, but all the time in the world? Those days where you are thinking a mile a minute and you just need to talk to your best friend? How about when you are feeling super creative, but don't have a cute project to do? Yup, that is how Saturday was.
At 8:00 am we had a ward 5k, Jessica and I walked it. Then I came home and did well... nothing really! In fact I was so bored out of my mind I drew on the driveway with chalk! I asked Jessica to come over, but she was off doing something with her life (unlike me) so I was left alone. Until the party...
One of my friends had her birthday party on Saturday. We went up the canyon and roasted hot dogs, played Frisbee, and just hug out around the fire! I had a great time! We also got glow sticks... and some people started to break them and squirt them all over everything! I am pretty sure if I wore my sweatshirt at night I would make a new fashion trend. I could call it "the glowing monster"! :)

Frazzled. Out. {Rachel}
I am with Jessica, these past couple days have been ROUGH to say the least. I never thought that if someone I never knew passed away it would have such an effect on me, and my life. I knew the driver personally, and she dances at my studio. She is a very beautiful girl, she has the cutest personality, is an excellent dancer, and it is fun to be in her presence... even if you aren't talking to her or anything.
The accident can't be blamed on anyone, just that those people where in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing, and the wrong time. I won't go through and tell the hole story again, if I do I might end up in tears. I also knew one of the girls who was hit. She wasn't in critical condition and is ok, as Jessica mentioned. However, all of the kids who where hit where good friends with some of my friends who went to a different elementary school than I did. Even though the kids where a "friend of a friend" relationship to me I feel like I know them.
On Monday the hole school was dragging. Let's just say there was lots of tears, and dressy clothes. I got 6 text's the night before saying to wear church clothes tomorrow in honor of the 4 kids, and tons of people ended up dressing up! I was super glad that, that many kids dressed up and where feeling the same way as me... and so was the principle! Turns out all of the kids who dressed up got our picture taken and possibly in the yearbook!
I am frazzled out... a lot, and I keep trying to find something that will get my mind off of this tragic event. But nothing seems to be working. Just wanted to say I love everyone who was in some way effected my this accident. It defiantly brought our whole school together.
Love,
Rachel
I need a break {Jessica}
It's been a pretty long week.
On Wednesday night I came home to flashing lights and police cars. After a while of standing outside my house (with shaking legs and wet cheeks) I watched a police man walk out with Jill in his arms. I ran inside and my dad told me that she had choked on an apple and Julie found her. After screaming Jill's name, my mom ran in. She then called 911 and they came. It was very, very, very scary and there were a lot of tears. Jill went to the hospital with oxygen on her and a while later came home. We gave her a huge hug and the first thing she did was show us her IV. She's good and safe now. It just goes to show you how precious life is, because you never know when it might be your last. Love you Jill Beaners!
On Saturday night, I found out that a couple miles away a car accident had happened. I girl I knew hit a girl named Courtney and her friends. They were crossing the street and it was really dark. The driver couldn't see her and hit her and some of her friends. Courtney and Jared were flown to Salt Lake. Shanece and her friend were taken to the hospital. Shanece and her friend are ok now...just has some back bruises, scrapes and hyper extended knee. Jared had/has brain bleeding, chunks of skin are gone, and from what I understand broken legs. (And much more.) He's doing a lot better today and we are all so thankful for that.
Courtney was taken off life support and unfortunately didn't make it. Even though a bunch of kids at my school didn't even know her, it was a very sad day. Everybody was crying and hugging, and it just made me thankful to have the ones I love. Courtney will be very very missed. She was gorgeous and kind and only 13. Her school wrote on balloons and let them float away, hung her pictures on the walls. And everybody was kind to each other. We all loved each other.
Courtney, we love you. You will be so missed. You are beautiful, sweet and strong. We pray for your family's and friends. And we love you. RIP Courtney Osborn. We love you forever.
Love, Jessica
PS....I think I need a break guys, you?

Ballet Recital {Rachel}
Last night Kate and I had a Ballet Recital. It was really cool because it was the first time I have ever gotten to dance on pointe!(so far in my pointe career) Plus we all got to wear tutu's. They weren't flat... but we hope that the next time we do one of these shows they will be! :)
These are some of the girls in my pointe class. |
These are some of my dance buddy's! |
We all did really good, and I'm glad that we could have this experience!

Birthday Buddies! {Rachel}
I know I'm a little late.. but on Monday was Reed's and my Mom's birthday! Eleven years ago my mom got the best birthday present ever, a new baby boy! Reed turned 11, and my mom claims she turned 28, and we will keep it that way! :) We where looking through his scrapbook and saw some cute pictures of us when we where just little tots!
After dinner the Baxters came over and we enjoyed cake and ice-cream with them!

Reed's Room is... {Rachel}
Re-modeled! On Monday and Tuesday of spring break we sent Reed away to cousins's house while my mom, dad, Zoe and I worked hard to re-do his room. We have been talking about it for a while... but now it is finally done!
I was super happy with the way it turned out, and so was Reed! :)

Date Night! {Rachel}
Last night was the Young Women General Broadcast. My stake was lucky and we got tickets to go to the Conference Center and see the meeting live, so my mom and I went on a little date! I have been to the Conference Center before, but not to a meeting. Last summer we took a trip to Salt Lake with the Baxters and we got a tour around the building (including the roof top garden... it was sweet!) it was cool to see how huge this building really was!
My mom and I first made a stop and Kneaders (The cheese cake was delish!) in Spanish then we hit the road to the big city. When we got there we had some time to spare, so we browsed around Nordstroms, and adored all of the expensive dresses! :)
After we shopped around we crossed the street to the Conference Center. They even had flags outside of Temple Square that where the value colors! We where in our seats 30 minutes early so we got a pretty good spot! I'm glad that I got the chance to go and see the meeting in real life. It was different than just watching it on TV!.Turns out my cousin, Zoe, was in the choir! It was fun to see her up on the bug screen, she did amazing!
Following the meeting we met up with my aunt and my cousins. The Cheese Cake Factory had a line out the door, so we settled for Johnny Rockets. While we where waiting for our shakes Zoe and I went to H&M and found some adorable glasses! I was sad when we walked back (with our moms who had the $$) and they where closed, or else these baby's would have been mine!

Rusty Run {Rachel}
In February one of my dads colleagues had a bad heart attack and stroke. All of his students have been looking for a way to raise some money for him and his family. They came up with the idea of a 5k fun run, and ended up raising $5,000. Most of the route was inside the halls of UVU, but a little bit was outside in the beautiful weather too. It was really cool to see all of these kids helping out in any way they could. Weather it be running the race, or cooking pancakes they all made an effort to support Nick and his family.
My dad took us kids to it to "help" but they had it pretty under control. However, I did flip some pancakes! When we got there Reed wasn't going to run it, but then one of the UVU baseball players said he would run it with Reed and one of my dad's other colleagues' boy. After the baseball player agreed to run it with him, Reed was all over it! (Although he only ran the first mile or so... but better than I could have done!) It was pretty funny to see Reed a head of the WHOLE pack of runners! (Even the ball player!)
We all had a good time, and I'm glad we could help out Nick and his family.

Lonely Me {Rachel}
This week is Spring Break, and I'm afraid I have nothing cool to say about that. I'm not going anywhere or doing anything. But... it is Reed's first baseball game(s) this week! I guess that is one thing to be exited for, but other than that I am pretty boring. All of my friends are going somewhere:
Jessica: Oregon to party with the Baxter fam and have an Easter party.
Emily: Going to Disneyland to use up their year-long passes (with Jolene's family)
Jolene: Going to Disneyland to use up their year-long passes
Kyrra: Going to Arizona to see family
Rachel: . . . . . .
I will do my best to have a good time without my besties, and I hope they have a good time!
Yesterday in English we had to write a "figurative language story" about anything. It just so happend that I had this subject on my mind, therfore that is what I wrote about. Look below to read all about it. My mom thought it was pretty funny, and I won the prize in English for having the best story!

(My Dream) Spring Break 2013
For spring break this year we are going to Arizona. I bet it will be as hot as our oven,
and lots of fun! I hope we get a lot of time to watch baseball games,
go shopping, and swim. My siblings and I can’t stop counting the hours
until Friday after school when we will head out of town. We have been
packing for days now, and I am dying inside! I can’t wait!
Last night I had a dream, I saw a picture of the States, then Arizona
started to get bigger and bigger. Eventually the US faded away and all I
could see was Arizona. It started to talk to me. It said “Rachel, be patient in only a few hours you will be here,” turns
out my brother had the same dream! Even my 7 year old sister came home
from school yesterday and showed me a paper. It said “Soon I will be swimming, swinging, and singing in the sun!”. She hit the nail right on the head!
Before
us kids knew about this trip, our parents booked a stay at a hotel with
a sauna, swimming pool, hot tub, and breakfast every morning! Most days we will be at pro baseball games, but on other days we will be touring national parks with fiery red rock, and eating lunch in small cafe’s. Just if 2 days could pass by as if it were only hours!
Turns out we weren't even supposed to know about this trip until
Friday. My parents accidentally made the mistake of texting each other
about the trip, and when my mom handed me her phone to text, while she
was driving, I just scrolled through the messages. Opps, that was when I
saw the messages from my dad. She thinks it was my fault, but really she let the cat out of the bag.
If only I could say that this trip were really happening. All of my dreaming is coming to an end; as I print this story and walk out of the computer lab with nothing planned over spring break.

Can you find all of the figurative language that I used?

Sounds Like Us! {Rachel}
First of all, I wanted to share this picture I found yesterday. I thought it looked like something Jessica and I would do! :)
Second, I want to say THANK YOU to my best friend. I'm glad she is there to support me when I need it, let me dream a little, take me back to reality when necessary, and do crazy things like ringing people's doorbells and standing there like gnomes until we laugh to hard we have to run to the next house. I'm way glad to have a best friend like you Jessica! Love you lots girly!
Love,
Rachel
Music Madness {Rachel}
Last Sunday my siblings and I got a little bored. We decided we would make a music video. Because it was Sunday, and we have a rule at our house that we can only listen to church music, we where stuck with our last resort... Popcorn Popping. Ok, we did our best with what we had. I thought it was pretty funny how Kate is totally serious, and Reed is over there acting like a weirdo!
I hoped you like our little show!
Love,
Rachel

And a while later.... {Jessica}
We had one of these done!! I went with Rachel's family to their Grandma and Grandpa's house. When we discovered that Grandma Slack had a Gel Nail machine, we freaked. We LOVE gel nails. They stay on for a long time and they are super shiny!! So after about 30 minutes on each girl, here is the finished product:
They were way fun! Hope to do it again soon!!

The Fireside {Rachel}
It has been 2 weeks since this event, but I still thought I would share. My dance studio does "the Fireside" every year. It is a performance that mostly includes hymns, and inspirational songs. It is my very favorite of all of our performances {the Nutcracker comes in a tight 2nd place}. It is just such a different feeling knowing that all the dancers are dancing for the same reasons as you. A ton of my family was able to attend this recital, Kate and I where super exited because usually we don't have this big of a crowd! {We also got a load of flowers which is a new thing too!} Thanks to them and everyone else who came and watched the show!

Hoarding: Buried Alive {Jessica}
Jill happens to be a normal 5 years old that lives in the basement, goes to preschool, dances and sings, and is addicted to candy. It happens. A while ago, my family started to notice things were missing. We had no idea were they were, and WE certainly were not misplacing them! One day, my mom walked down stairs and Jill followed. She walked back behind the couch and into the storage room. Jill stood guarded at the door that leads to under the stairs. When my mom came back Jill got defensive. We can't even look into her "stashes" without getting yelled at. My mom looked and she had hid boxes and containers and bags full of C-R-A-P.
We decided we had a hoarder on our hands.
A while back, when it was really bad, my mom went down and looked through it while Jill was asleep. She found random things like: My blow drier, her RS keys, Julie's books and lip glosses, etc.
The next morning while making breakfast, Jill stormed into the kitchen with her hands on her hips and asked demanded, where her blow drier was. "You can't have that, it's Jessica's." She replied with tears in her eyes, "Fine. I'll just ask Santa for one." She turned around and mumbled just loud enough for my mom to hear, "Santa, please bring me a blow drier." (Sometimes I think she was adopted or something.)
Anyways, it was finally time to go through this pile and my mom did it without Jill. Can you imagine what she thought about her recent storage place (behind the couch) and to later discover it was GONE? It was scary. People may have considered getting help because, "What if she has mental problems?" Ya, we thought about that too. Guess she just needs to have something to call her own.

Pure Joy {Rachel}
First of all... spring is finally here! The sun is not only shining, but it is warm! My mom and I where just on our way to get a soda then enjoy lunch in the backyard.... oh spring is great!
Second, the other day I was having a little too much fun on the iPad. Kate and I where taking pictures, then adding stickers so the faces had mustaches, glasses, hats etc. We sure laughed hard so, I just thought I would share them:

Happy Birthday Darling! {Jessica}
Today is Rachel's birthday! She turned 13, same as me! Yesterday I went with her and her family down to their Grandma's house and to the Miss. Fairview pageant. I spent time with her all day and we had some pretty good laughs. We did our nails, ate really good food, watched girls walk around in their pretty dresses and texted pointless things to random people. Typical teenager things ya know. :)
The point is, she is always there for me. Ready to make me laugh, or listen to me vent, or to give me advice. She is an amazing person and always will be! She is so super talented, smart, gorgeous and kind. She always makes the right decisions and is always up for a challenge!!
Rachel, you are the bestest friend a girl could ask for. No way I could do everything I do without you here! You truly the greatest and I hope you have a wonderful day. I love your face girl! :)

Froggy Lou {Rachel}
My Week Long Love:
On Valentines day (the day of love)
My parents gave us kids a dove.
No, no, not a dove but 3 fish and a frog.
the fish where as gold as gold, and the frog as brown as a log.
We also got a little fishbowl.
and filled it with rocks and water clear full.
Next we spooned the fish right in
And hoped they would use each fin.
We watched and watched their tails wave ‘round
For only a week until they all drowned.
As
you can tell thorough my lovely poetry we got 3 fish, and they died...
then we got 3 more... died, but thankfully we still have our little frog
Lou. In my English class (2 days after Valentines day) we where
required to write a poem about anything, using any rhyme scheme, and at
least 2 types of figurative language (Can you guess what they are in my
poem?). All that was on my mind was the tragic (not at all... a little
flush doesn't hurt the soul that bad. :) death of our newest family
members. I thought it was funny to make the hole thing into a poem, and I
had a lot of fun with it!
This is a picture of the only survivor of the gold fish killing rampage:
Sorry, it is kinda hard to spot the little guy. |
Lesson
learned here... just spend the 3 extra dollars on a nice fish that will
stay alive for more than 36 hours. Just sayin' guys.
Love,
Rachel

Get it together Grandma {Jessica}
I got an e-mail from my grandma today. It went something like this:
Jessica...Someone gave grandpa some tickets to a concert by these kids but since he didn't know them or what they were like, he gave them away. Do you know them? -Grandma
Thanks for ruining my day Grandma. Thanks.
Love, Jessica

Spring vs Snow {Rachel}
The other morning when I woke up and I was planning on wearing flats to school, only then did my mom said, "Rach, you might want to look outside." I did and I saw 4 new inches of new snow and it was still falling... HEAVY. I was pretty disappointed when I pulled on my boots and scarf. Today it has been even worse. The snow has stopped (for now) but I started going through all the pictures on my mom's phone and saw baseball pictures, our trip to Lake Powell and Zions, going to to pool and lots of sunshine. Then I diagnosed myself with a bad case of spring fever.
I would kill for a warm day just hanging out at the ball park watching my little bro pursue his dreams with a cold 7up in my hands. I really do love spring, and it better get here fast! Spring is my favorite season, there is a lot of good things that come when spring does... baseball, my birthday, time to pull out the skirts and capris, sunshine and green grass, and a happy girl!
Don't get me wrong, there is and always will be a place in my heart for winter. But it has been winter long enough. Let's all agree, it's time for the sun to get crackin' and warm this place up!

Cruising Along {Rachel}
Last Saturday at about 5am my parents left to the airport... then to another airport... then finally to Puerto Rico where they boarded a cruise ship and partied in the Caribbean for 10 days! This year in May will be their 20 year anniversary so they decided they had to celebrate! They left us 3 stooges back home in the snow and cold for a little vacation of their own. I honestly think they deserved it... but I really do hope they take me next time! :)
So, what do you do when you leave your 3 kids home for 10 days? We have a little party with the greatest aunt, uncle and cousins ever! My aunt Di, uncle Matt and their 2 little girls spent 6 days at our house watching us. Not only did they watch us but they where our taxi driver, chef, cleaning lady, and mom and dad. I am really glad they could come!

Job Shadow Time (Jessica)
This Friday, all the 7th graders were supposed to go and "Job Shadow" someone to see what it's like to have a real job and experience what they do. You could have done a parent, Elementary school teacher, or a neighbor. I had the opportunity to go back to 6th grade to job shadow my 6th grade teacher. I graded tests, gave them a spelling test, put in grades, etc. It so made me want to skip 7th grade for forever and go back to 6th grade. I love it there! A bunch of kids from our school last year were there so it was like a giant reunion! Plus, my little brother Joseph is in that class, so I got to be the embarrassing sister. :) I made so many memories in 6th grade last year, and had the BEST TEACHER EVER! :) It was so fun to go back and see what I have been missing out on.

When my Cousins Come Over... {Rachel}
About 2 weeks ago we didn't have school, but all the teachers did because it was a "district development day". And I think if we did have school it would have been canceled... it snowed 18+ inches over night! I was pretty happy when I woke up to lots of snow! {But now I just want all of it to go away so I can see some sunshine!}
That morning my mom called my cousins house to see if they wanted to come down to play in the snow! Unfortunately they had school, but they came down shortly after the bell rang. We had a lots of fun having a snowball fight at 9:00 pm, playing school, and putting on dress-ups!

P.S.
Check out my cousins "bear cheeks" pajamas!

Yes, Coach. (Jessica)
Ya, ya. I know I haven't posted in....a million years, but hey! I've been busy! I just thought this picture was so cute. Yes my dad is the coach of Joseph's basketball team. He does a lot of, "What are you doing with your hands in your pockets? We're playing BASKETBALL!!" and, "Rebound iiiittt!!!" and, "Oh. My. Gosh. SET A SCREEN ALREADY!!" Yes, he is intense. But it's fine. For now.

It's Time {Rachel}
It's just about time I write up a little post. I haven't posted in a while... well just because I haven't! I have been doing just a bunch of nothing and a lot of pinning. {Oh, man... Pintrest is dangerous.} Ok here I go, some of these pictures are from new years, some from me Reed and Kate drinking exploding soda, myself reading the best book in the world, and me and my buddies!
Life is great!
